Uncoupling mats

Schlüter-DITRA matting uncouples your floor tiles from the substrate neutralising the tensions between the substrate and the tile surface, stress cracks in the substrate are bridged and are, therefore, not transferred to the surface. Recommended when tiling on timber floors, over screeded underfloor heating systems and under larger format natural stone.

  • Wooden Floors
    Wooden structures naturally expand and
    contract during normal temperature fluctuations.
Movement can also be transfered from
adjoining rooms. It is recommended that
existing floorboards are removed and replaced
with 18mm ply that is screwd into the joists
at 300mm intervals. If this is not possible, 12mm
ply can be overlayed, providing the existing
boards are screwed into the joists first.
  • Schluter Ditra mat
    Schluter-DITRA provides uncoupling through
its open rib structure, which allows for in-plane
    movement that effectively neutralizes the
    differential movement stresses between the
substrate and the tile, thus eliminating the
major cause of cracking and delaminating
    of the tiled surface.
  • Stregnth
When placed on a solid foundation, columns
or pillars can support tremendous loads.
The same physical principle applies to
    Schluter-DITRA installations. When filled,
columnlike mortar structures are formed in
the cutback cavities of the matting. Loads
are transferred from the tile covering
    through these column-like mortar structures
    to the substrate.
  • Tiles
Your tiles are laid knowing that you have
    neutralized the differential movement
stresses between the substrate and the tile,
thus eliminating the major cause of cracking
and delaminating of the tiled surface.
